It still boggles my mind to hear people argue that the earth isn't warming quickly. They almost always quote something odd, like "last year was no warmer in Chicago than 17 years ago." Of course, they are picking one odd year and one location instead of looking at the trend.
Salt Lake City just broke its record for the hottest July recorded, yet again. This is the graph of average July temperatures since 1928. As you would expect, there are ups and downs from year to year, but can you tell which way it is trending? Notice that almost every one of the top average temperatures has occurred in the last 10 years.
Those aren't minor changes either. The average up about 5 degrees in less than 100 years. Ouch! Ski before the snow is gone!
